The Dodgers and Braves delivered another heart-stopping chapter in their division series showdown. Veteran lefty Chris Sale took the mound on regular rest only to watch his usual dominance evaporate under the pressure of Los Angeles bats.

World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto answered every Braves rally with surgical precision, striking out ten over seven innings and surrendering just one run. Freddie Freeman delivered the decisive blow with a towering home run that cleared the warning track and sealed the 3-1 victory.

Manager Dave Roberts rolled the dice in the ninth inning, summoning closer Edwin Diaz despite his regular-season struggles. The move paid off as Diaz stranded the tying run at second base to preserve the win and hand Los Angeles a 2-1 series lead.

“We knew we had to be ready for whatever they threw at us,” Yamamoto said after the game. “Every pitch mattered.”

Shohei Ohtani watched from the dugout still nursing mid-season injuries, but the Dodgers showed they can win without their superstar slugger firing on all cylinders. The Braves now face elimination with their offense sputtering outside of Michael Harris II.

Chris Sale’s uncharacteristic wildness and elevated pitch count in the early innings proved costly. Two first-inning baserunners and long at-bats forced Atlanta’s ace into damage-control mode from the opening frame.

“I didn’t have my best stuff tonight,” Sale admitted. “They made me work and I couldn’t find the zone when it mattered.”

The Braves will need a dramatic turnaround in Game Four if they hope to extend the series. Sale could return from the bullpen in a potential Game Five, but Los Angeles appears poised to close out the series on the road and set their rotation for the NLCS.
