The Indiana Fever are under fire after former player Brianna Turner publicly accused the organization of terminating a male staff member over sexual harassment allegations — then ordering players to keep quiet about it. Turner, who played for the Fever in 2025 and now suits up for the Las Vegas Aces, dropped the bombshell on social media after teammate Sophie Cunningham made headlines defending women’s sports.

Cunningham sparked the controversy during an ESPN interview when she stood firm on protecting biological women in athletics.

“I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men,” Cunningham said.

That’s when Turner fired back, claiming organizations like the Fever pose a bigger threat to women’s basketball than transgender athletes. According to Turner, the Fever fired a male staff member following sexual harassment allegations but then told players to stay silent about the incident.

Turner went on to defend trans inclusion in the league, pointing to former WNBA player Layshia Clarendon, who was born female before later identifying as transgender.

“To date there’s been one out trans player in the league. They caused zero problems,” Turner wrote on X.

She contrasted that with the alleged behavior of the fired staff member, adding that sexism, misogyny, homophobia, and racism are the real problems facing women’s sports.

The Indiana Fever issued a carefully worded statement Thursday that neither confirmed nor denied Turner’s explosive claims.

“Protecting our players and employees and maintaining a respectful, professional workplace is our top priority,” the Fever said.

“Our policy is to take concerns seriously, investigate thoroughly, and act promptly when appropriate to protect the people in our organization and ensure everyone is treated with professionalism and respect.”

The team concluded by hiding behind corporate speak: “Fostering trust and safety in that process means we do not comment on personnel matters involving former employees.”

The WNBA has remained conspicuously silent on whether it plans to investigate Turner’s allegations. As of Thursday, the league had not announced any inquiry or issued a public comment on the matter.

The controversy highlights a growing divide within women’s sports over biological fairness versus progressive ideology — and raises serious questions about whether organizations are more concerned with protecting their image than their players.
