Upside-Down Flag Sparks Yosemite Protest, Constitutional Debate

Liberty Check

Yosemite National Park staff displayed an upside-down American flag on El Capitan to protest recent layoffs orchestrated by the Trump administration. This symbolic act took place during the highly visited “firefall” event when visitors gather to witness Horsetail Fall glow orange at sunset.

According to the United States Flag Code, flying the flag upside down signals “dire distress.” Workers said the protest aimed to call attention to job losses and concerns over proper stewardship of America’s national parks.

  • Over 1,000 National Park Service employees were dismissed in a push to reduce government size.
  • The National Park Service called the display unauthorized and removed the flag promptly, reaffirming their commitment to park regulations and national symbols.
  • Critics argue such cuts threaten park maintenance, visitor safety, and long-term preservation of these public lands.

Every American has a stake in how our national parks are managed and protected. Stay informed and hold federal agencies accountable to constitutional standards of transparency and stewardship.

The Constitution must be defended.

if the people that visit these parks treated them with respect and not mess things up and put trash where it is supposed to be there would not need as much help at these parks but they are to many people employed by government anyhow
