Do Homeowners Have a Right to Defend Their Property?

Do Homeowners Have a Right to Defend Their Property?

Here’s The Scoop

A brave New Mexico homeowner exercised his right to defend his property last week, standing his ground against a late-night intruder.

In Clovis, near the west Texas border, a Rosa Boulevard resident dialed 911, reporting an attempted break-in around 11 p.m. on December 4.

As police were en route, the homeowner was forced to call 911 again. The intruder had breached his home, and the homeowner had defended himself, shooting the intruder as he had warned.

The intruder was transported to a local hospital before being moved to a Lubbock, Texas medical facility.

Upon investigation, Clovis police discovered the homeowner had been roused by the intruder’s aggressive knocking. Unfamiliar with the individual on his porch, the homeowner warned the intruder to leave, stating he was armed and would shoot if necessary.

Undeterred, the intruder kicked open the front door. Fearing for his safety and that of others in the residence, the homeowner fired a single round, incapacitating the intruder.

The homeowner promptly called 911 again, requesting an ambulance for the wounded intruder, now in stable but critical condition in Lubbock.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of homeowners’ rights to defend their property. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward.

You said the intruder was knocking loudly on the door. If he needed help he should have yelled loudly through the door. When he kicked in the door he made the mistake of his life.

The homeowner ABSOLUTELY had the right to shoot. There should be no questions asked.

The homeowner’s only mistake was poor aim: the intruder lived.

One of the main reasons in the huge spike in crime is there is little fear of the consequences of being caught or shot. The strict gun laws in many states insure the acquisition of a firearm for protection is all but impossible. Studies have proven more guns DO NOT EQUATE MORE CRIME, in fact crime rates go down. Criminals do not want to get shot. We should all have the right to protect ourselves, loved ones and property.

You make a valid point about the possibility of a lawsuit if the bad guy lives. But the likelihood is not there if he’s dead! When the police arrive, let them know that you were in total fear for your and the family’s lives. Ensure you know if your state has a law referencing standing your ground! If not, fear for your life is best! Do not shoot them outside the residence.

    What do you think? ???

    How is there any Question?
If you’re Alone and someone Breeches your door, after being Told to go away, then you have the Right to shoot the dumbschitt. If Others are in your house and You have the gun,you now not only have the Right to shoot the dumbschitt, you have the OBLIGATION to shoot. You have to Protect others. If you’re any kind of man at all, you Know that.
