New York Democrats Unleash Criminal Chaos Then Blame Trump for the Cleanup

From Billie Eilish at the Grammy Awards to Code Pink activists disrupting Congress, “ICE OUT NOW” has become the rallying cry for leftists desperate to resist President Trump’s commitment to enforcing America’s immigration laws. The Left has turned that chant into a moral crusade.

But the facts tell a different story. Immigration and Customs Enforcement isn’t engaged in some rogue operation — they’re simply enforcing laws passed by Congress. What makes the Left’s outrage even more absurd is that ICE’s increased presence is a direct result of Democrats’ reckless sanctuary policies.

Consider New York, where the Trump administration recently launched Operation Rotten Apple, surging immigration enforcement officers into the city. The Department of Homeland Security reports that in just one month, ICE arrested 2,100 illegal aliens with criminal records in New York City alone — including murderers, child predators, kidnappers, and narcotics smugglers.

So where were New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Governor Kathy Hochul during this crisis?

Busy creating the problem. Their policies are precisely why ICE needed a massive presence in New York in the first place.

In states like Florida, ICE’s presence is significantly smaller. Why? Because Florida jurisdictions cooperate with federal immigration enforcement and honor detainers. When a local officer arrests someone here illegally, they contact ICE and coordinate transfer after the criminal serves their time. That means fewer dangerous criminals roaming free and less need for federal intervention.

New York politicians chose the opposite path. One of Mayor Mamdani’s first acts in office was signing an executive order reinforcing sanctuary policies and prohibiting New York City law enforcement from working with ICE to apprehend and detain illegal aliens. Mamdani went even further, signing a law that banned ICE from operating at any of New York’s 19 correctional facilities. Then he had the audacity to wonder why federal agents showed up in force.

The absurdity is staggering.

Any reasonable person would assume New York’s leaders would be grateful that over 2,000 criminals were removed from their communities. Not this mayor. Yesterday, Mamdani accused ICE of “terrorizing immigrants” and “criminalizing the very act of being an immigrant.”

That narrative only works if you hide the rap sheets. He’s hoping Americans will forget these people also violated our nation’s immigration laws.

Mamdani claimed that if someone committed serious crimes, the city “would be in contact with the federal administration” about it. Apparently, he didn’t bother looking at the criminal records of those arrested and removed from his streets.

Among the criminals ICE apprehended during Operation Rotten Apple is Bogdan Detrovich Gren, a Ukrainian national in the U.S. illegally with convictions for murder, kidnapping, and abduction resulting in death, among other violent crimes.

Also taken into custody were Palvinder Singh, an illegal migrant from India convicted of rape in Germany, and Carlos Mendez-Acosta, a Venezuelan migrant convicted of rape.

Andreas Bernal Chiquito, an illegal migrant from Colombia, has prior arrests for sexual conduct against a child and injuring a child under age 17.

The Department of Homeland Security confirms that the promised call from New York officials about those with “serious crimes” never came.

What Hochul and Mamdani did do was allocate $7.25 million in taxpayer dollars to pay legal expenses for unaccompanied minors here illegally.

That tells you everything you need to know. They’ll stage the press conference. They’ll pay the lawyers. They’ll chant “ICE out now” as if immigration enforcement hasn’t been fundamental to our country since its founding. What they won’t do is honor a detainer, hold a convicted rapist in jail, or admit that their sanctuary policies put these dangerous criminals back on the streets.

Elections have consequences. Nowhere is that clearer than on immigration. Democrat politicians spent years daring Washington to enforce the law. President Trump did exactly that. Now they want law enforcement gone — and the criminals left behind.

If Mamdani and Hochul want fewer ICE officers in New York, there’s a simple solution: stop releasing the criminals ICE is trying to remove.

The Constitution must be defended.
