Florida Mayor Surrenders After Disputing Probation Test Results
Naples Mayor Teresa Heitmann surrendered to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office this week following an alleged probation violation linked to a prior DUI conviction. The mayor previously received a sentence including alcohol bans and random screenings after pleading no contest to driving with a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit.

Court records suggest a positive test for cannabinoids triggered the warrant, though Heitmann maintains that subsequent private screenings returned negative results. She asserts that she acted immediately to dispute the findings and did not attempt to evade the legal process.
“The test returned a result I disputed immediately,” Heitmann stated regarding the initial screening.
“I did not resist. I did not hide,” she added, emphasizing her commitment to her record of service despite the active legal proceedings.
