- Accountability and personal responsibility are non-negotiable in any disciplined program.
- College athletics must answer to the community and taxpayers who fund public universities.
- Swift internal action protects team standards and reinforces respect for the law.
Dan Lanning confirmed he is still gathering facts after wide receiver Evan Stewart was arrested early Sunday on DUI charges.
“There will be an appropriate action taken. Still gathering some details with what that situation looks like,” Lanning said.
The coach stressed the matter will be handled inside the program and refused to comment further.
“But that would be handled internally. I’m not gonna respond to any other questions about that. We’re gonna handle that with our guys,” he added.
Stewart was booked into the Springfield Municipal Jail hours after the Ducks rallied past Nebraska on Saturday night.
Lanning called the timing unfortunate because it overshadowed a hard-fought victory.
Stewart sat out the game with an undisclosed injury and has posted 27 catches for 352 yards and four touchdowns this season.
“There was an incident this weekend that didn’t match our standard here in our program,” Lanning stated.
Oregon now heads to Illinois while questions linger over quarterback Dante Moore’s availability following a concussion.
Americans deserve better.
