The Milwaukee Brewers stunned the Los Angeles Dodgers with a decisive 6-2 victory at Dodger Stadium, putting the defending champions on the edge of elimination. One more win and Milwaukee completes the sweep.
Jackson Chourio launched a first-pitch homer off Blake Snell to set the tone. Robert Gasser followed with five scoreless innings to keep the Dodgers scoreless early.
“You just gotta win tomorrow,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “We’ve just got to get a win and find a way to build some momentum.”
The Dodgers briefly took the lead in the sixth on Will Smith’s two-run double, but Milwaukee answered immediately. Jake Bauers delivered an 11-pitch, go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh, and Garrett Mitchell followed with a solo shot that chased Snell from the game.
“We flew to LA knowing we were heading to a funeral,” Brewers first baseman Jake Bauers said after the game, contrasting this year’s confident squad with last year’s defeated mindset.
Additional damage came from a wild pitch in the eighth and Joey Ortiz’s RBI single in the ninth. Relievers DL Hall and Trevor Megill shut the door with 3.2 scoreless frames.
The once-dominant Dodgers lineup now appears exhausted and listless. Observers have even speculated online whether the team is deliberately underperforming to influence future labor talks. Milwaukee’s collective effort has exposed cracks in a roster built to be unbeatable.
