Major Sports League Just Made Historic Move to Protect Women Athletes

The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has taken a decisive stand for fairness in women’s sports, implementing a new eligibility policy that requires genetic testing to verify biological sex. The move makes the WTA one of the most prominent sports organizations to prioritize women’s athletic opportunities over politically correct inclusion policies.

Under the updated policy, all players must undergo a one-time screening for the SRY gene, which is found exclusively on the Y chromosome and plays a critical role in male biological development. The test can be completed through a simple cheek swab, blood sample, or saliva test.

Players who test negative for the SRY gene will be immediately cleared to compete. Those who test positive will face additional medical assessment before eligibility can be determined. Players who refuse testing could face disciplinary consequences.

“The WTA’s women’s eligibility policy is designed to promote equal athletic opportunities in women’s professional tennis and maintain fair competition for all players participating in WTA tournaments,”

the official policy states.

The decision comes after consultation with WTA members and a comprehensive review of evolving standards across international women’s sports. It replaces a 2024 policy that permitted biological males identifying as transgender to compete against women if they maintained artificially lowered testosterone levels below 2.5 nmol/L for at least two years.

There are no known biological males currently competing on the WTA Tour. But the proactive policy change signals the organization’s commitment to protecting women’s sports before controversy arises.

“The WTA recognises that this is a sensitive and complex issue and is committed to treating all players with dignity and implementing the policy in a respectful and thoughtful way,”

the governing body said.

The WTA joins World Athletics, World Boxing, and other major sports organizations in implementing mandatory SRY gene testing. The International Olympic Committee has also announced plans to use sex testing for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, marking a dramatic shift away from the radical gender ideology that has dominated sports policy in recent years.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova, a longtime advocate for preserving women’s sports, celebrated the WTA’s decision.

“I played no part in this particular policy, but am very happy that we at the WTA are clear that we are a women’s association and only women, as in females, can compete at the highest level of women’s tennis,”

Navratilova wrote on X.

The policy takes effect immediately, representing a major victory for athletes and advocates who have fought to maintain competitive fairness and protect the integrity of women’s sports. After years of controversy and pressure from progressive activists, common sense is finally winning the day in professional athletics.
