  • Second Amendment rights exist to protect law-abiding citizens, not to shield criminals who turn public streets into war zones.
  • Local law enforcement and community vigilance remain the first line of defense when progressive policies weaken deterrence against violent crime.
  • Parents have a constitutional and moral duty to shield children from environments where chaos and lawlessness are tolerated.

At least a dozen people were hurt when gunfire erupted near Florida A&M University’s Bragg Memorial Stadium Saturday night.

Tallahassee police say six of the victims were juveniles, one as young as eleven.

Chief Lawrence E. Revell confirmed that eleven victims suffered gunshot wounds, one in critical condition.

Two others sustained serious injuries while eight remained stable as of the latest update.

A physical altercation between two or three people apparently preceded the shooting, police said.

Detectives have yet to announce any arrests.

“Tonight, our thoughts are with the victims and their families as they face the devastating impact of this violence,” Revell said.

“It is especially heartbreaking to know that children are among those injured,” he continued.

“In the moments immediately following the shooting, and before the scene was fully secure, our officers put their own safety at risk to carry victims to safety and transport them to the hospital. Their actions were nothing short of heroic and reflect the courage and compassion our officers bring to this community every day.”

Florida A&M University officials urged the public to steer clear of the area while officers investigate.

The campus itself was declared safe, but authorities continue searching for the gunmen.

Our freedoms depend on staying vigilant.
