Does Congress Have Grounds to Impeach Biden?

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said there are “multiple grounds” to impeach President Joe Biden if the GOP flips the House in the 2022 midterm elections.

“If we take the House, which I said is overwhelmingly likely, then I think we will see serious investigations of the Biden administration,” Cruz said during a recent episode of his podcast Verdict with Ted Cruz.

When asked about the prospect of impeaching Biden, Cruz said, “I do think there’s a chance of that.”

“Whether it’s justified or not, Democrats weaponized impeachment.”

“They used it for partisan purposes to go after Trump because they disagreed with him. One of the real disadvantages of doing that is, the more you weaponize it and turn it into a partisan cudgel​, you know, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander,” Cruz added.

Cruz said Biden’s “utter lawlessness” with the ongoing border crisis and decision to “defy immigration laws” would be one potential reason to begin impeachment proceedings.

The 51-year-old senator said Republicans have a 90% chance of regaining the House.

“What’s interesting is, in Washington, everybody assumes Republicans are ​going to win,” Cruz said. “I think all the Democrats assume we’re ​going to take the House​. I​t’s almost baked into the cake of how everyone handles decision-making.”
