Should Puerto Rico Become the 51st State?

Here’s the Scoop

House Democrats introduced a bill that would end Puerto Rico’s status as a territory, and potentially allow it to become the 51st state.

The bill would allow Puerto Rico’s residents to choose between three options: statehood, independence from the U.S., or “sovereignty in free association with the United States.”

Under statehood, Puerto Ricans would gain U.S. citizenship protected by the U.S. Constitution — which is essentially irrevocable.

What do you think? Should Puerto Rico become the 51st state? Let us know with your vote!

All this scam is for is to bring in more slum bearing trash to push the US farther down where we all end up slaves which is treason.

Need more information to make wise decision. This could be another scam by the sorry ass ‘demorats’ to creat more fraud in the voting system. I also agree with Don’s comment above about scum trash pushing US citizens around.

Unfortunately Puerto Rico already must heavily depend on the U.S. We will simply be adding a huge number of welfare recipients that will continue to vote for freebies from hard working Americans. It’s bad enough that we have allowed 5 million illegal immigrants in that we will have to house, feed, clothe, educate and medicate at taxpayer expense. Most of these people will bring nothing to the table.

I agree with Tarheel. Until Puerto Rico shows some ability to support its own citizens I do not believe it should be granted statehood. We already have enough states who grift off the more successful states. I also am one of those that believe we should induct states in a manner and in a number that makes it easy to have a cohesive and attractive pattern of stars. At this current number of states, that would not be tenable with an addition of just one more. I was previously under the impression that PR had conducted such votes in the past and was not able to muster the numbers needed to agree to statehood. There seem to be some there who like the status quo. am I wrong?

Why in the hell would we include another shithole country to be a U.S. State. Puerto Rico offers the U.S. absolutely nothing, just a bunch of freeloading bums with their hand out. Puerto Rico becoming a U.S. is not only a bad idea, it’s also an incredibly stupid idea.

Agree. They are a member of our country already.

The US does not have an official language while PR does have an official language. if it becomes our 51st state, will it be required to give up it’s official language? Or will the rest of this country be required to learn the language spoken in PR? Making it our 51st state is a political ploy to give Dems permanent control so they can institute Communism. A vote for a Democrat is a vote for life as a slave.
