Do You Support Democrats’ Effort to Force Chick-fil-A to Stay Open on Sundays?

Here’s The Scoop

A New York Democrat, Assemblyman Tony Simone, has introduced a bill that could potentially force the Christian-owned restaurant chain, Chick-fil-A, to operate on Sundays or face removal from the state’s major highway system.

Simone, who has been vocal about his criticism of Chick-fil-A’s stance on LGBT rights, penned Bill A08336 with the intent to require the New York State Thruway Authority to only continue or initiate contracts with businesses that operate seven days a week.

Simone told the New York Post, “To serve New Yorkers and travelers, things should be open seven days a week, including Chick-fil-A, and if they can’t they shouldn’t be in our rest stops.” He believes that travelers should have multiple options for food and beverages, not just one spot.

However, there is an existing standard that ensures at least one hot-food option is open and available at these rest stops every day of the week. Thruway spokesperson Jennifer Givner confirmed, “If Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays we have other alternatives for our customers.”

Chick-fil-A, known for its commitment to closing on Sundays for religious reasons, could see seven of its restaurants on the interstate affected by this bill, with at least three more slated to be built.

The founder of the chain, Truett Cathy, wrote in his book, “Closing our business on Sunday, the Lord’s Day, is our way of honoring God and showing our loyalty to Him.”

This latest attack on Chick-fil-A follows a 2018 incident where three New York state legislators urged the state Thruway Authority to reconsider the approval of Chick-fil-A locations along the highway system due to the restaurant’s public stance against same-sex marriage.

That is Government overreach. The government should never have the right to dictate any businesses hours of service nor should they be allowed to infringe on your religious rights. Forcing Chick-fil-A to be open on Sunday is an infringement to their policy. This infringement will not stand before the Supreme Court, futhermore, it will hurt the finances of the other restaurants around them, I mean, who don’t love Chick-fil-A?

Typical Democrat, the Democrats think they are God and should have authority over everyone. Their main objective is domination. They are elected to represent their constituents and I am sure his constituents, or at lest the majority of them do not agree with his decision.

I remember a time when businesses were closed on Sunday – period. In general, their business hours were 9 – 5, Monday through Saturday, except for Thursday evening- usually ’til 9:00 p.m. Lots of hustle and bustle on Thursday nights.
Given all the shopping done online these days, I fail to see how Chick Fil A’s decision constitutes an offense against either the retail “gods” or the
politicians so intent on iron-rule conformity.

Time for Chick-fil-A to leave New York all together. Maybe this Tony guy should open his own restaurant and stay open all year, except for days when there’s an alphabet soup pride parade.

Remember when the democrats said private companies like Twitter and Facebook had a right to censor conservatives because they are privately run? They have suddenly changed their tune when it comes to a restaurant that is run by a Christian private company. Imagine that!

Democrats are hypocrites. They attack anything that doesn’t march to their tune.

This pretty much proves where the Democrat’s stand on Christianity lies.

Does anyone really care one way or the other? I’ve never eaten their food and probably never will.

He pretty much admits the stance has nothing whatsoever to do with the welfare of travelers.
It is an attempt to punish an organization that has a different viewpoint than he.

“The law states restaurants at the service areas should “maximally benefit the public,” and allowing them to go unused for one day out of the week is a “disservice and unnecessary inconvenience to travelers who rely on those service areas,” naming Chick-fil-A as the type of restaurant “inappropriate” to serve travelers.

The bill—which includes exceptions for temporary farmer’s markets—doesn’t impact restaurants that are not located in a New York rest stop or Port Authority facility.

The new rules will apply to “all future contracts,” meaning for now, it will likely not apply to the seven Chick-fil-A franchises currently operating at New York rest stops, whose owner Applegreen secured a 33-year contract in 2021, NBC New York reported.” Forbes

Typical democRAT fascist BS. The next thing will be mandatory composting toilets. We need to vote all democRATS & RINOS out. They both think they are God & feel free to dictate (in the case of democRATS)or cave (in the case of RINOS) at a moment’s notice. FJB ULTRA-MAGA MIKE

7 days a week should have been part of the contract to begin with. Then Chick-fil-a could take it or leave it.
